The capacity to hear God

Relevant Ministry Blog Schedule:

The picture of a shepherd and their sheep is given a number of times in the Bible in reference to the relationship that Christians have with God.  One of the unique characteristics of that relationship is that there is communication going on! John 10:3-4, "The sheep listen to his voice ... and they know his voice."

Is hearing God to be a normal experience for a Christian?  John 8:47, "He who belongs to God hears what God says."  It certainly sounds like it doesn't it?

So, what is your experience?  Do you hear him from time-to-time?
Beginning today, and over the next several weeks I invite you to join me in learning about and experiencing - hearing God's voice.

To begin, let's first consider the possibility.  Is it possible to hear God's voice?

One of Jesus' most repeated phrases, fifteen times or more is, "he that hath ears to hear, let him hear."

If you are a child of God. I have exciting news for you.  You do have the capacity to hear God!  Hearing though is a learned experience.  Just as a newborn baby is born with all the capacity to hear, understand and respond in the physical realm - so it is for the Christian when they are born again in the spiritual realm.  The capacity is there; however, this capacity to hear God must be cultivated and learned as we mature in the Lord.

Do you believe that you have the capacity to hear God?

In Luke 10:38-42, Martha was busy in the kitchen - but, "Mary sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said."  In verse 42, Jesus said, "But only one thing is needed.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her."

What can you put into practice today to develop this incredible capacity of the believer of hearing God?
